Simon, some people call him Jam, is a British photographer who works out of London, and lives in Westcliff-on-Sea with his wife and little boy
He shoots lifestyle photography and portraits for commercial and editorial clients while self-initiating other photographic projects and artwork. He's won some awards and had exhibitions both in the UK and internationally.
The predominant theme of his work is the exploration of identity and individuality. His photography leads him to people and places he might otherwise never experience. It’s both an adventure and a huge privilege. Whether constructing or capturing visual stories he aims to keep it real and make the process as simple as possible.
Four and a half years ago I was commissioned by Hogarth Worldwide to photograph Southend pier for Santander.
Why is this image special to you?
"It’s special for a few reasons, Pam who arranged for me to go out there had a very clear idea what my lunch should be, “you can’t go to the seaside and not have fish and chips.” As I parked up on a back street on my way to the chippy and then by a park I thought how pleasant it all seemed, and not at all what I expected.
So a year after we moved to nearby Westcliff-on-Sea.
